This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application on the Incident Command System (ICS). The course expands upon information covered in ICS 100 through 300.
Must have taken IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, and ICS 300
In accordance with the NIMS Training Program (2020) it is recommended ICS-300 and ICS-400 not be taken back-to-back in order to allow a reasonable amount of time between trainings for students to gain operational experience and understanding to further their knowledge, skills, and abilities in responding to expanding incidents. This information can be found in the NIMS Training Program on page 14, which can be accessed here: NIMS Training Program. (https://www.fema.gov/sites/default/files/documents/fema_nims_training-program-may- 2020_0.pdf)
Not allowing for a reasonable amount of time between ICS-300 and ICS-400 could jeopardize acceptance into FEMA training that require these two courses.
Students must also obtain a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID). To obtain a FEMA SID go to https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid
