Event Description

NWS Coastal Carolinas Beach Hazard Virtual Workshop (NWSWrksh0p)

The NWS Carolinas Beach Hazard Workshop is a two-day workshop (2 hours each afternoon) geared towards NWS partners (EMs, media, beach officials, etc) to discuss various beach hazards we encounter at NC and SC beaches. One of the main topics will be rip currents, the number one weather killer in the coastal Carolinas, and exchanging ideas and research to help mitigate the problem. Since rip currents have far inland impacts, as many of the fatalities are tourists from inland locations, the workshop is offered to a wide range of NWS partners (not just those near the coast).
