This three day course will train students in the 20.5 hour standard basic CERT curriculum. The citizenry of South Carolina will become more resilient by having residents trained in disaster preparedness. The class covers an exciting variety of topics that include disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, CERT organization, disaster psychology and terrorism. The class entails traditional classroom teaching and hands-on practicum.
Target Audience: Candidates interested in gaining knowledge in disaster preparedness or those interested in taking the first step into the CERT program.
Prerequisites: IS-317 (Online CERT Course) FEMA IS Course 317; https://training.fema.gov/is/
FEMA IS 100, 200, and 700 are recommended for participants.
