Course Description:
This workshop is designed to prepare representatives of local governments (including counties, cities, towns, and public service districts) to recover from disasters through knowledge of federal and state programs and services. Topics of discussion will include the disaster declaration process, assistance to public entities through FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) program, assistance for disaster survivors (including FEMA’s Individual Assistance programs), and hazard mitigation.
Who Should Attend:
Local and county government representatives who may be involved in the disaster recovery process, including but not limited to: emergency managers, Mayors, Council Members, and other local elected officials, department heads (including public works, finance, assessors, and water and sewer), planning staff, and building officials.
Admin Notes:
There is no fee to attend this two-hour workshop. For in-person offerings, no travel reimbursement is available. For virtual offerings, participants must log in via a browser or the WebEx app (phone-only participation is insufficient).
